Menstrual Health Management Training

Menstruation is a natural and vital aspect of every girl and woman’s life yet persistent taboos, lack of appropriate information and limited access to affordable and hygienic management methods have far-reaching physical, social and mental consequences. At Hope Springs Health Foundation Uganda, we believe every girl and woman deserves equal access to correct information, safe and hygienic menstrual management materials and the opportunity to stay happy and healthy during their periods.

To address this, we organised a two day Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) and life skills training program for 20 school girls and 2 teachers from St Joseph’s Primary School in Mayuge district. The program covered topics such as puberty, the female reproductive system, menstrual cycle, hygiene, pain management, menstrual management methods and reusable pad creation. All 20 girls completed the training and made reusable pads for themselves with enough materials to make over 5 pads each. The training was carried out in local languages(Lusoga, Luganda) to facilitate open communication . Participants felt comfortable discussing menstruation openly, breaking the stigma associated with this topic.

Join us in our mission to provide knowledge, resources and support for better menstrual health. Together we can break down barriers and empower girls and women to embrace their natural experiences with confidence and dignity.
